Courteney Cox Interview on Cougar Town and Scream 4 From 2011 Winter TCA

Thursday, Jan 13, 2011

Courteney Cox sat down with reporters to talk about her quirky series, how it’s helped her at this time in her life, how she’s different from her Scream 4 costars, and her old Friends costar Matt LeBlanc’s new series Episodes.

Has the show been a good escape for difficult times in your life?
Courteney Cox: Oh yeah. Thank God for the show. There have been times that Bill has said, “Do you need to take a break?” And [I say] “Are you kidding?” This is my saving grace.

Is there any chance Sheryl Crow will come back?
CC: We had fun with her! And she had fun, she said. She really liked it. I don’t know, maybe!

How was it stepping back into the Scream franchise?
CC: That character is really over the top, and I just realized that was 10 years ago; all of the actors on the set, the new group, they’re very subdued, kind of quiet. And I stick out like a sore thumb; I was like “Gail Weathers is back!” Like, are they going to talk any louder at all? They are very cool, and I’m older, and not as cool. But I stepped into my character; we’ll see what happens. Dewey was Dewey! But then, you know, people have changed. People are cooler than me.

Is it true that there will be more Scream films after this one?
CC: There is going to be a Scream 4, 5, and 6. [But] I don’t know anything.

To find out what Cox said about her Friends days and Matt LeBlanc’s new series, just read more.

Have you seen Episodes yet?
CC: No! I can’t wait to see it.

Is there anything you wish you had done differently when you were on Friends?
CC: The one thing that I wished I hadn’t been back in those days, which I’ve changed, is [that] I’m not a competitive person at all, but I am a comparative person. And I don’t even want to be that. I don’t want to compare anymore. There’s a lot of stuff that can mess with your ego, being on a show with six people in an ensemble like that . . . It’s hard. It was a lot of learning for me. I wish I hadn’t ever spent time comparing.

How do you think you’ll feel when people start saying that they grew up watching you?
CC: I think they already have! I think it’s alright, I guess. I mean, I have a few more years before I feel bad.

Courteney Cox: Coco Wants a Dog for Christmas

Saturday, Nov 27, 2010

Courteney Cox was recently served with a “chilling” document: her daughter Coco Riley‘s Christmas list.

“She wants a puppy!” Cox, 46, tells PEOPLE with a laugh. “Which is unfortunate because we have two dogs.”

But with the 6-year-old landing firmly on Santa’s nice list, the actress seems resigned to her fate of a three-dog home, and negotiations between the two parties have already cleared their first hurdle.

“All I said was, ‘No Chihuahuas!’ explained Cox while attending the OmniPeace by Jordan Klein launch at Kitson on Friday. “[And Coco replied,] ‘No, they’re just crazy!’”

With over a month left to work out the details of her daughter’s gift, the actress is looking to keep the rest of her holidays as low-key as possible.

“I don’t have any big plans,” she admits. “Just hanging with the family.”

Courteney Cox Cherishes Gift From Jennifer Aniston

Tuesday, Nov 23, 2010

This is so lovely,I know a lot of people have been commenting on how lovely Courteney’s “Coco” necklace is that she’s been wearing lately. See a pic here. Isnt that really sweet?

Jennifer Aniston gave her former “Friends” co-star and longtime friend Courteney Cox a necklace when her daughter, Coco, was born, and the actress is still keeping it close to her heart almost seven years later.

Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush caught up with the “Cougar Town” star this weekend at the OmniPeace by Jordan Klein charity event on Friday. The actress, who serves as an ambassador for humanitarian fashion brand, is working with OmniPeace founder Mary Fanaro to end poverty in Africa.

“Now tell me Courteney, you’re wearing two things on you right now that you care about a lot, OmniPeace is one but I love your little chain Coco,” Billy said.

“Thank you, [I] got this when she was born from Jennifer,” she told Billy.

“Jennifer Aniston gave you that? How cute,” Billy said.

“Not Jennifer Aniston, my friend, um, Jennifer, um… no, I’m just kidding,” the actress joked.

“But do you wear it everyday? ” Billy inquired.

“You know what? Recently I’ve been wearing it every single day,” the 46-year-old actress, who recently separated from husband David Arquette, told Billy. “I re-found it again, because obviously, she’s 6-and-a-half years old… I wear it everyday, ‘cause, you know, she’s my girl.”

In addition to her own little one, Courteney is opening her heart to other children through her work with the fashion brand. OmniPeace is about to build its fourth school in Africa in just three years with the proceeds from their T-shirt and hoodie sales at Kitson stores in Southern California.

Courteney Talks Exclusively To The Daily Mirror

Saturday, Nov 13, 2010

Speaking for the first time about the break-up, she reveals the heartache behind the separation – and her hope that they can patch things up.

“I’ve been laying low but I just feel like I’ve been in a whirlwind,” says Courteney, 46, talking exclusively to the Mirror from a suite in a Beverly Hills hotel.

“This is the first day off I’ve had since I’ve been separated and it will be an interesting time. I woke up the other morning and thought, ‘Now what do I do?’ It was a weird feeling, but we’ll see.

“I never run from things and getting separated from someone after so many years, and someone I love so much, takes a lot of courage. It’s for sure the bravest thing I’ve ever done.

“I don’t know what will happen, but we are not getting divorced. This is a separation so hopefully whatever is supposed to happen will be the best thing for us.”

“We have grown apart and we have to maybe take some time, but there’s definitely been a big adjustment.” Even Arquette’s outburst on the Stern show elicits little more than a shrug.

She says: “That’s David. He’s a kook. He’s an entertainer and I’m sure that people who listen to the radio are entertained by his stories and he’s just being honest… maybe too much. But it’s not shocking to me.”

Eyebrows were raised when they got married in the first place with some pals fearing it would never last. After all, she was the elegant, multi-millionaire star of one of the biggest shows on television – and he was seven years her junior and a hyperactive, supporting player in minor films and TV shows who had struggled with drug abuse.

Yet they made it work. They had a daughter, Coco, gathered a wide circle of friends and the Sunday night open house parties at their Malibu home were famous. But now, sadly, the marriage has broken down.

Courteney’s latest TV hit is the series Cougar Town, in which she plays a middle-aged divorcee with a teenage son who starts dating again.

At the moment that is not something she can even contemplate. She says: “Right now I’m not doing anything but working and looking for some calm and time to reflect. No dating.”

Foreshadowing troubles to come, in one of her last interviews before the split she said: “We still have the same arguments we’ve had for years. Some things never change and the intriguing things you fall in love with will become the things you don’t like.”

She has stayed in their Malibu home, while Arquette lives in their house in Beverly Hills.

Courteney says: “She’s having a hard time but she’s dealing with it well and David and I are trying to show her that we spend a lot of time together.”

Best friend Jennifer, who survived the end of her marriage to Brad Pitt, has been helping her through the tough times and has been “amazing”. Courteney says: “I have a lot of really close friends who are going through this right now, like Jennifer did.

“She’s has been amazing. She’s the greatest girl and we hang out together all the time.”

The couple have been close since they were both cast on Friends in 1994. Originally, Courteney auditioned for and won the part of Rachel. But she felt the character of Monica, with her love of cooking, cleanliness and need for order was more her, and persuaded producers to switch.

The overwhelming popularity of the show was a windfall for her in many ways. She received a bigger salary with each series, culminating in a $1million-perepisode deal during the 10th and final season. It made her and co-stars Jennifer and Lisa Kudrow the highest paid television actresses in history.

Friends also got Courteney nominated for numerous awards, boosting her profile to superstar status. It helped her revive what had been a less than successful film career. She starred in three Scream movies, meeting David who played the dim-butloyal deputy Dewey. They married in 1999.

Previously, Courteney’s meaningful romances had been with Stewart Copeland’s brother, Ian, and she had a six-year relationship with the reclusive actor Michael Keaton. But her films 300 Miles to Graceland, The Runner, November and Zoom went largely unseen and she returned to TV in the short-lived series Dirt, playing the workaholic editor of a tabloid mag. Now the US series Cougar Town has put her back on the map.

“I think a lot of people were turned off by the title,” admits Courteney.

“It’s the worst title in the history of all television and it’s not what the show’s about. It’s changed. We’ve really changed the concept.”

She adds: “A lot of people didn’t want to watch because the word cougar is offensive to some people and they didn’t want to see me with younger guys. There are tons of women who love the show. It’s very polarising… you either love it or hate it.”

Jennifer guest starred in one episode. Courteney says: “She’s a big fan of the series and to work together is just so easy for us. We always make jokes about one day we’ll do another sitcom together because life’s so easy when you do those sitcoms. We had it made on Friends.”

But for now she has other, far more pressing, things to consider.

She says: “The questions I’m asking myself are what makes me happy? Where do I want to be? What will make me happy at 50, 60 and 70? “I want a little more calm in my life and more intimacy in a lot of ways. Nothing makes me happier than having dinner with a friend and talking.

“Right now I’m trying to figure out how that works, how to raise my daughter and just keep it simple.”

What Makes Courteney Cox So Cougarific?

Monday, Aug 23, 2010

“Boy, first of all, she’s got a body that just, you know, even women kind of go, ‘Oh OK! I’ll sleep with that!’ ”

Says Cougar Town‘s resident older-woman-on-the-prowl Carolyn Hennesy when we asked her what exactly makes costar Courteney Cox so absolutely cougarlicious. Sure, Court’s cuckoo mama may not be dating the younger dudes on the show anymore, but she was bumping TV nasties with Nick Zano (of the young and buff H’wood crowd).

And we say hell, yes, thank heaven for characters life Jules Cobb on our boobtube! When else are female friendships and their women’s sexual adventures represented in a realistic (and mostly classy) way on prime-time basic cable?

Uh, like friggin’ never.

Indeed, Carolyn added about yum-fun Courteney: “She’s stunningly beautiful. She’s fiercely driven; she knows exactly what she wants. She’s in control pretty much 100 percent of the time that I see her because, let’s face it, she’s also one of the executive producers. And that is, at any age, I think incredibly attractive to young men. It’s like ‘OK, take me by the hand and show me what to do!’ And she can do it.”

So we agree and salute you, cougars!
