There’s jewelry in Courteney Cox-Arquette’s Christmas stocking

Saturday, Dec 19, 2009

Usually, the Cougar Town star’s family heads to Los Cabos, Mexico for the holidays. But since they just finished up their home remodeling project, the Arquettes are planning a “lazy Malibu Christmas,” David Arquette told Cindy Adams of the New York Post.

“I usually give my wife jewelry,” he said. Not Cartier or Tiffany, though. The couple of ten years and parents to Coco, 5, are fans of a LA-based boutique that sells works by individual artists.

“It’s a cool, small, designer kind of place where you don’t spend as much on the packaging as you do on the gift,” David said.

Jewelry, it seems, carries special meaning for the couple. In addition to this holiday tradition, they’re partnered with another designer, Satya, to create silver and gold butterfly jewelry to benefit children with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). They weren’t aware of the rare genetic condition until their friend’s child was born with EB (check out this Access Hollywood video clip). Now, they’re devoted to the cause.

“I think becoming a parent redefines your understanding of love and compassion,” Courteney told British Vogue. Coco’s birth made them both pause and re-evaluate how they use their celebrity, she said. “It is about being a good person and doing what you can to make a difference and make this world a better place.  It is important to do positive things in your life.”

What a beautiful sentiment. It’s especially nice to hear at the holidays.

Next up from the creative team of Courteney Cox and David Arquette — a comedy about food trucks! “It’s called Eat Street, about street vendors in New York City and the whole subculture about these pop-up bistros,” David tells OK!.

The project is still in the script stage, David says, but ABC is so impressed with the couple’s work on Cougar Town (they’re both executive producers) that insiders say the proposal has a good shot at landing on the network’s fall 2010 schedule.
