Courteney Cox Takes A look back (and ahead?) at ‘Friends’

Wednesday, Jun 9, 2010

Courteney Cox admits to being a little bit jealous of the girls from “Sex and the City” and their leap to the big screen.

“I wish we could do that with ‘Friends,'” Cox says. “The thing is, the characters from ‘Sex and the City’ hopped all over Manhattan. On ‘Friends,’ we were always stuck in the apartment and that coffeehouse.”

Nevertheless, Cox says “Friends” castmate Jennifer Aniston has a great idea for a movie that would reunite the members of the long-running NBC sitcom. And, judging from her enthusiasm, Cox would clearly love to make such a movie happen, if only to enjoy working with everyone again. But she’s not getting her hopes up.

“I don’t think it’s going to happen,” she says, tamping down expectations, including her own. “Would [series creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman] want to write it? Because they’d have to be involved. I don’t know … a lot of things would have to break just right for it to work. But we’ve daydreamed about it.”

And while we’re on the subject of “Friends”— and it’s a topic Cox takes to with hearty enthusiasm — here are a few of her favorite things about her decade on the show:

Favorite ritual: “Jennifer and Lisa [Kudrow] and I ate lunch together every single day for 10 years. And we always had the same thing — a Cobb salad. But it wasn’t really a Cobb salad. It was a Cobb salad that Jennifer doctored up with turkey bacon and garbanzo beans and I don’t know what. She just has a way with food, which really helps. Because if you’re going to eat the same salad every day for 10 years, it’d better be a good salad, right?”

Favorite scene: “Off the top of my head, I’d say when Monica proposed to Chandler. There’s like 10,000 candles lit in the apartment and she gets down on one knee and starts sobbing. ‘There’s a reason why girls don’t do this!’ That was a big scene to me, playing the heavy emotion of that.”

Favorite part of Monica: “I loved any time she got super-competitive. The New Year’s Rockin’ Eve dance. The Thanksgiving touch football game with Ross. Fat Monica too. God, playing Fat Monica was so freeing! I remember being in [Fat Monica] makeup one time waiting for the other cast members to come out, and [director] Kevin Bright put on ‘Shake Your Groove Thing’ and I just grabbed a doughnut and started dancing like crazy in front of the audience. I could do anything because I was hidden under all that prosthetic makeup.”

Courteney Cox: ‘I like pushing limits’

Monday, Mar 29, 2010
Courteney Cox has admitted that she is much ruder than her Cougar Town character.

The actress explained that she loves filming sex scenes for the show, The People reports.

“I’m pretty dirty, so I love pushing it to that limit,” she said. “There’s a part when my son walks in on me when I’m with this younger man, and that’s happened to a friend of mine. She pretended to be like, ‘Oh, there you are’.”

Cox added that the conversations her character has in the show are realistic.

“This is just girls talking, real-life stuff,” she explained. “My friend Christa Miller who is in Cougar Town was over last night and our conversations were a thousand times worse than the ones we have on the show.”

She continued: “I think it’s important to be relevant and real and I like to push things, but I’m surprised what we’ve got away with. And I hope it stays that way.”

5 Things You Didn’t Know About Courteney Cox

Saturday, Feb 27, 2010

Since theres not much news on Court right now, thought this might be an interested read :)

Sure, you know Courteney Cox as the sexy star of ABC’s Wednesday comedy Cougar Town, wife to actor David Arquette and mom to 5-year-old daughter Coco. But here are some things you might not know about her:

1. She likes to eat: “At a diner, I’ll get scrambled egg whites, turkey bacon, sliced tomato, cottage cheese and a scooped-out onion bagel with cream cheese … My favorite meal is New York grilled steak with sautéed garlic spinach and broccoli and maybe garlic chips or garlic fries. I like anything green and I love steak.”

2. She has a celebrity crush: “Johnny Depp! He’s my favorite actor of our day. He’s it! Don’t get me wrong, I’m in love with my husband, but Johnny Depp is adorable!”

3. She swears by the Tracey Anderson Method workout: “It kicks my ass and I love it. The Tracey Anderson Method is two parts: dance aerobics and toning. The whole process is about working your accessory muscles, not just your major muscle groups that get worked all the time. You never stay in one constant motion so you don’t get bulky in one particular area. I was turned onto it in July, and I’ve seen a big change in my body. And you want the [workout] room to be very hot.”

4. She loves clean teeth: “I’m all about brushing my teeth. I like a hard toothbrush – I do not care whatever plaque I’m taking off, I want it all off! And I switch off between vanilla mint and cinnamon Crest and Elgydium by Pierre Fabre from France. It’s potent and I like it.”

5. She likes to rock out: “I work out to all Michael Jackson songs. And I’m a huge fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I like ‘Tell Me Baby’ and ‘Snow.’ [Another] favorite is Jay-Z and Alicia Key’s ‘Empire State of Mind,’ because my daughter can sing Alicia’s whole part. I don’t even know how she knows the words.”
