Courteney Cox Comedy ‘Charity Case’ Gets Fox Pilot Order

A day after CBS handed a pilot order to a comedy starring Matt LeBlanc, Fox has given the pilot green light to a comedy toplined by another former Friends star, Courteney Cox.

The single-camera Charity Case (working title), was written by former The Office writer-producer Robert Padnick. As has been the case with virtually all Fox comedy pilot orders this season, Charity Case already has a director on board, James Griffiths, who had been attached since the project was set up at Fox earlier this development season. Charity Case hails from ABC Studios, which will co-produce with 20th Century Fox TV.

In Charity Case, when Hailey (Cox) inherits her late billionaire husband’s charity, she quickly finds that changing the world is far less glamorous than she had imagined. Cox, Padnick and Griffiths executive produce.

Of the rest of Cox and LeBlanc’s Friends co-stars, David Schwimmer recently signed on to star in AMC’s straight-to-series drama Feed the Beast, while Matthew Perry toplines CBS’ comedy series The Odd Couple.
