Scream 4 a Hit at the American Film Market

Tuesday, Nov 10, 2009

In a morning report about the 2009 American Film Market – which was admittedly glum last year but is now seeing a silver lining – Screen Daily says The Weinstein Company’s Scream 4 has been a hit in the marketplace with buyers “flocking” to the title. This is even before Kevin Williamson has even turned in a draft of the script . Early buzz in the marketplace could spell good things for Dimension Films which has had a sluggish 2009. It might even prompt the Weinsteins to move a little faster to lock down a director. Wes Craven is being courted to return, but he wants to see a script first.

The horror series that reignited the genre and gross[ed] more than $500 million worldwide is back! From Kevin Williamson, creator of the original Scream trilogy, the new film sees the return of cast members Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette, along with a group of new stars, who can all hopefully stay alive long enough to figure out the new rules to this one-of-a-kind horror franchise!

The synopsis agrees with the Scream 4 details Williamson revealed to MTV. The fourth one is an ensemble. It’ll take place right now, 10 years later, and it’s going to take place in [Sidney Prescott’s hometown of] Woodsboro.

Perry turns Cox down on ‘Cougar’ role

Monday, Nov 9, 2009
Courteney Cox has revealed that Matthew Perry rejected an offer to feature on her Cougar Town series.

The pair co-starred in Friends from 1994 until 2004, playing Monica Geller and Chandler Bing respectively. Their characters ended up marrying during the long-running comedy show’s seventh season.

The 40-year-old actor passed on the chance to rekindle their on-screen romance on the ABC show, Contactmusic reports.

“I did ask Matthew if he’d play my boyfriend on the show,” Cox told Us Weekly. “He thought it was a little much after Chandler and Monica.”

Cox’s former Friends castmate Lisa Kudrow was previously announced to guest star as a dermatologist on Cougar Town.

ABC recently optioned Perry’s untitled comedy project, which he will co-write, executive produce and star in.

Aniston, Cox extend support to violence-hit women in Congo

Friday, Nov 6, 2009

Former ‘Friends’ stars and real life best friends Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox are using their faces to front Mary Fanaros humanitarian fashion brand OmniPeace, which seeks to Stamp Out Violence Against Women & Girls of the Congo.

They are both great women that are passionate about anything they support and lend their name to and its not just about the campaign of the moment; its about real education and commitment to helping in anyway they can.
They got involved because they are my friends and support what our brand stands for, Fox News quoted Fanaro as saying.

Cox said: OmniPeace was created to give back. The first year the proceeds went to ending extreme poverty in sub-Saharan Africa and the second year was to the City of Joy for the Stamp Out Violence campaign.

I cant think of a better way to support my best friend and all the work that she and OmniPeace do to donate to causes supporting peace, education, human rights and the end of extreme poverty by 2025. Mary’s passion is so contagious and wonderful to be around that its impossible to say no to her.
It has taught me that anything is possible with enough perseverance and tenacity from people like Mary who take on these challenges that seem insurmountable and then all of the sudden seem possible, she added.

‘Scream 4’ AND ‘Scream 5’ on the Way, Says Kevin Williamson

Thursday, Nov 5, 2009

Revealing previously undisclosed details for ‘Scream’ fans — there will, at last, be a ‘Scream 4’ and then a ‘Scream 5’ — writer Kevin Williamson might as well have compared himself to a slightly maniacal tightrope walker. That is, a tightrope walker who’d grab hold of the balance bar and suddenly wield it as a weapon, furiously gashing unsuspecting spectators while making so many semi-obscure movie references that you’d need an encyclopedia to actually follow them all.

Williamson, late of writing TV’s ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ told MTV News that three original ‘Scream’ stars — Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette — have signed to reprise their roles once more in the brilliant and self-referential slasher franchise. Both sequels will be set in the present, and a new ensemble of actors is currently being recruited for acting support. Action will still occur in mythical Woodsboro, though Campbell’s high school character, Sidney, is presumably a little older now.

Hardest to do, Williamson admitted, is balancing the meta-ness of ‘Scream’ with its seemingly limitless references to all things horror-cinematic, with a sufficiently gruesome storyline that will scare the daylights out of everyone all over again.

“I guess I’ll just have to be very aware of the fact that we’re a ‘4’ and that we’re beating a dead dog,” he said, apparently not aware of just how gruesome that image actually is. “I’m going to make that very apparent in the dialogue.”

Meantime, Woodsboro citizens: Be afraid! Be very afraid.
