Check out videos of OTRC.com’s interview with Cox and Hopkins, as well as 3 highlights below.
1. On the possibility of a “Friends” reunion …
Fellow “Friends” alum Matthew Perry is set to appear on “Cougar Town” this season and star as a potential love interest for Cox’s character, Jules. The two played couple Monica and Chandler on “Friends,” which aired between 1994 and 2004. The comedy series will mark its 20th anniversary this September. When asked about the possibility of a “Friends” reunion,” Cox told OTRC.com: “We are way too old to be showing what we look like from that to that. No, we’re not doing one.”
“David Arquette used to have a great idea and he said, ‘What if you guys do an episode of ‘Friends’ every Thanksgiving. Just come back for that one week to say what is everyone doing in the last year … and we didn’t listen, we didn’t do it, so now it’s too late,” she added, recalling her ex-husband’s words.
“Fans want it. Come on,” Hopkins said.
“”You’ve never even seen the show,” Cox replied.
“I saw one,” he said.
2. On working with “Friends” alum Matthew Perry again …
There have been several “Friends” mini-reunions on TV. Former stars Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow have also appeared on “Cougar Town.” Also, Cox had last year guest starred on Perry’s short-lived NBC comedy series, “Go On.”“Matthew Perry’s in our second episode, which was great,” Cox told OTRC.com, regarding his guest appearance on “Cougar Town.” “We’re so comfortable. The only difficult was to remind ourselves that we don’t know each other, in this episode.”
“We’re strangers that meet,” she said. “I lose my insurance, my car insurance, because I’m not that bright, and I end up hitting his car and then I have to flirt my way out of it and hope that he won’t … claim it, because I can’t pay it.”
3. On her “Cougar Town” son’s new relationship …
“Travis, my [Jules’] son [played by Dan Byrd], is dating my best friend, Laurie [played by Busy Philipps],” Cox said. “So that’s uncomfortable for me at the beginning but I act like it’s not but it truly is. Have to get past that.”
